OUR RESEARCH
1. BASIC RESEARCH LINE:

We study how stress can affect the PUFAs concentration in the brain and how these alterations correlate with changes in the crosstalks between the stress responses and the endocannabinoid system. These alterations may affect memory consolidation, emotional processing, and perception (hearing and olfaction). We change the content of PUFAs n-3 and n-6 to make the brain resistant to stress (anti-stress effect) avoiding depressive-like behaviors (antidepressant effect).

2. APPLIED RESEARCH LINE:

Essential fatty acids are used to regulate the n-6/n-3 ratio in the brain. Thus, we have developed nutraceutical with anti-stress and antidepressant properties.
